Our property is in the northwest corner of Lexington County on the south shore of Lake Murray, which is just northwest of Columbia, SC. The Lexington County - Saluda County line is noted on the photo below by the light blue line in the lake.
The property, outlined in dark blue, is located at the north end of a point, right on open water. The entire point has only a handful of houses, and the lot directly across the street from our house (to the west) is uninhabited. The property is framed by the small wooded island to the north and the peninsula to the east, providing a superb, isolated lake setting for your relaxing vacation at Lake Murray. The islands, peninsulas, and coves around the point make for great canoeing.
Bordeaux Bay is a great place to get away and enjoy Lake Murray - boating, fishing, sunbathing, swimming, or just relaxing.
For a couple of years, an osprey family has nested in the top of a large tree just 75
feet from our house. In the spring and summer, the huge adult ospreys can be seen
from our back deck swooping down over the bay to the nest to feed their
hungry chick. Later in the summer the chick begins to fly when it grows to be almost as big as the female. An entertaining view for all.
When the ospreys are not nesting, bald eagles can sometimes be seen soaring above the bay looking for
food. The photo to the right shows a bald eagle pair perched in the
tallest pine tree above our driveway on the south end of the house.
From this preferred tree the bald eagles have a great view of the
surrounding area for hunting.
